LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Light rain and mountain snow are in the forecast Monday for parts of Los Angeles County, forecasters said.
It will be cool and cloudy with breezy southwest winds over the deserts, but dry and warmer conditions will move in later in the week. A heavy marine layer with low clouds overnight and in the mornings will follow.
The mild rain system that moved through the region Sunday is heading east toward Nevada, and most of the showers have tapered off. There are a few systems lingering offshore.
A few areas in Orange County recorded rain totals of 0.40 inches, but coastal and valley areas reported between a few hundredths of an inch to a third of an inch.
A few hundredths of a inch were reported in the western high desert regions and a quarter inch in mountain communities.
Snow levels are expected to rise to about 5,000 feet Monday.
Temperatures will be about 5 to 10 degrees warmer than average Monday and will continue to rise through the week. Wind conditions will be relatively calm with breezy conditions through Wednesday.
