Larry King Items to be Auctioned in August

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Nearly 400 artifacts representing broadcast legend Larry King’s six-decade career in radio, print and television will be auctioned off next month, Julien’s Auctions announced Tuesday.

“The Larry King Collection” auction will take place at 10 a.m. on Aug. 12 at Julien’s Studios, 13007 S. Western Ave. in Gardena, and online at juliensauctions.com.

The collection will include selections from King’s trove of Dodgers memorabilia, showcasing his lifelong devotion to the storied baseball team and both King’s and the Dodgers’ trajectories from their native Brooklyn to Los Angeles.

It will also include artwork, correspondence, and signed books from celebrity guests and friends, from Frank Sinatra to Elizabeth Taylor to JFK Jr., as well as King’s signature on-air looks such as two pairs of his sartorial suspenders worn in the 1990s.

“In the world of broadcast and cable news, there was no one bigger or better than Larry King whose legacy as one of the most formidable journalists and talk show hosts of all time is unmatched to this day,” said Margaret Barrett, vice president and head of Hollywood memorabilia for the auction house.

“This exceptional collection offers a window into his brilliance as a masterful interviewer that made everyone from Hollywood to the White House and international leaders clamor to sit across from his table. We are also proud to offer his most beloved and personal treasures that reflect his generous spirit and curiosity with the world, hallmarks that earned him global admiration and respect throughout his long and influential career.”
