LAGUNA BEACH (CNS) – A multi-agency task force put together by the Laguna Beach Police Department led its third operation of the year this weekend, focusing on speed violations, e-bikes and loud exhaust and modified vehicle emissions systems, authorities said.
The task force deployed Saturday and included personnel from the police departments of Costa Mesa, La Habra, Newport Beach and Santa Ana, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and the Bureau of Automotive Repair.
The operation led to 141 vehicle citations for violations including loud exhaust, emissions and speeding, according to the department. One person was also taken into custody for unspecified misdemeanor violations.
“Traffic safety and quality-of-life issues continue to affect our residents and guests,” LBPD Chief Jeff Calvert said. “Consequently, we are left with no choice but to take a zero-tolerance approach to enforcement.”
Calvert said the joint enforcement operations would continue throughout the year.
