LOS ANGELES (CNS) – In celebration of Pride Month, Los Angeles Sunday will host its 55th Annual Pride Parade in Hollywood, followed by a free street festival despite the ongoing immigration-related unrest downtown, in Paramount and other nearby communities.
“At LA Pride, your safety is our top priority,” organizers said on social media. “In light of recent reports of ICE activity across the region, we want our community — especially our undocumented, immigrant, and mixed- status families — to know that we are actively working with local Law Enforcement to ensure a safe and welcoming environment at all Pride events.
“We stand with you. We see you. And we will do everything in our power to protect and support our community.”
LA Pride Parade is the oldest, largest and longest-running event in Southern California, according to Christopher Street West, the nonprofit that produces the event. More than 100,000 people are expected to attend the LGBTQ+ procession on Hollywood Boulevard.
The parade is expected to start at 11 a.m., beginning on Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue, then head north to Hollywood Boulevard, travel east to Cahuenga Boulevard and end at Sunset Boulevard.
Emmy award-winning actor Nicey Nash and her spouse, BET Music Matters Hall of Famer Jessica Betts, will serve as the parade’s Vanguard Grand Marshals. Andrew Rannells, a Grammy Award winner and two-time Tony Award winner, known for his roles on “Girls” and “Welcome to Chippendales,” among others, will be the Celebrity Grand Marshal. Influencers and activists TrinoxAdam, a gay Chicano couple with more than 1.1 million social media followers, will serve as Community Grand Marshals.
The parade will be broadcast by ABC7.
ABC News Correspondent Gio Benitez, alongside ABC7 anchors Ellen Leyva and Coleen Sullivan, will serve as hosts. Meanwhile, ABC7 reporters David González, Sophie Flay and Kevin Ozebek are expected to report directly from the parade route.
Following the parade, attendees can enjoy the LA Pride Village, formerly known as the Block Party. The free street fair will take over Hollywood Boulevard from Argyle to mid-Bronson Avenue. There will be live performances on two stages, tons of sponsor activities and giveaways, nearly 90 vendors and exhibitors and scores of food trucks, carts and stalls. There will also be two bars for attendees ages 21 and over.
LA Metro is returning as an official transit partner of LA Pride. As part of its Ride with Pride campaign, Metro will wrap several of its buses with Pride-themed designs all summer long.
In celebration of LA Pride, Metro will conduct two station “take overs.” Hollywood/Highland Station will be renamed LA Pride Nation and the Hollywood/Vine Station will be renamed Hollywood/Pride.
Both stations will receive new signage and other fun co-branding. Metro will also issue commemorative TAP cards, which can be purchased at select ticket vending machines. These cards will also be distributed at the parade and festival.
For just $3.50 round-trip, parade-goers can take Metro*s B Lines to LA Pride Nation or Hollywood/Pride stations. Metro has many Park & Ride lots servicing the county — parking is just $3.00 per day, payable onsite.
