KFI is celebrating after a major night at the Golden Mike Awards.
The Radio and Television News Association of Southern California handed out its annual Golden Mike Awards, honoring excellence in broadcast journalism across the region. KFI AM 640 took home the most awards of any radio station this year, with six total wins, and the second most wins overall after KABC, which won 12.
Among the big winners, Michael Monks had a standout night, earning four Golden Mikes for Best Newscast Under 15 Minutes, Best Public Affairs Program for Michael Monks Reports, Best Live Reporting, and Best Long Form Program or Documentary for his six-month special LA Fires: A Path Forward.
Heather Brooker also took home top honors, winning Best Interview Podcast for Entertain Me with Heather Brooker, along with the inaugural June Lockhart Radio Entertainment Reporting Award.
Other major winners included KNBC and KABC-TV for their continuing coverage of breaking news and investigative reporting.
Lifetime Achievement honors this year went to Lisa McRee, Susan Hirasuna, and Raymond Mesa, recognized for decades of excellence in local news.
The Golden Mike Awards are among the most prestigious honors in local broadcast news, and KFI is proud to be recognized by the RTNA of SoCal.
