LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has made a “transformational gift” to establish the Kevin Feige Division of Film & Television Production at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, it was announced Tuesday.
The endowment will be a source of funding for faculty and students with additional programmatic support, and launches fundraising efforts to mark the school’s 100th anniversary on Feb. 6, according to the school.
The amount of the endowment was not disclosed.
“Kevin Feige is above all a remarkable storyteller who brings innovative and impactful cinema to our screens epitomizing the kind of film producer the School of Cinematic Arts strives to graduate,” Elizabeth Daley, dean of the School of Cinematic Arts, said in a statement. “He has also been a steadfast supporter of the school and its students. In every way he is an inspiration, and we are delighted as the school nears its centennial that the Division of Film & Television Production will carry his name into its next century.”
Feige, also Marvel’s chief creative officer, is a graduate of the film and TV production division of the school, and serves as a member of the School of Cinematic Arts’ Board of Councilors. As president of Marvel Studios, Feige has produced 37 films that have opened No. 1 at the box office, collectively grossing over $32 billion globally — 11 of which have grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.
He was nominated for an Oscar as the producer of 2018’s “Black Panther,” and he received the David O. Selznick Achievement Award from the Producers Guild in 2019.
The Kevin Feige Division of Film & Television Production will offer students the opportunity to receive training in filmmaking across various mediums, including traditional filmmaking principles and rising industry practices such as virtual production, AI and other tools.
“USC’s School of Cinematic Arts is the original film school, a historic institution founded by cinema pioneers,” Feige said. “It’s where everything began for me as a producer, following in the footsteps of my heroes and walking the same halls as the storied alumni who came before me. That nearly 100-year legacy, and the community that defines USC, are why I’ve stayed so connected to the school and why I’m so passionate about supporting the next generation of filmmakers.”
Previously, Feige established the Kevin Feige Endowed Fund for Creative Producing at USC in 2017.
