CNN anchor and chief White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins shared a video showing an alternate angle of an incident in which President Donald Trump bashed her for “not smiling” after she raised a question about the files on late convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
“President Trump argued it’s time for the country to move on from the Epstein files and lashed out when I asked about the survivors’ response to the latest Justice Department release,” Collins wrote on her Instagram, which included the viral clip of Trump, as well as an alternate angle showing her asking the question in the Oval Office on Tuesday (February 3).
Trump specifically addressed Collins as “CNN” after she pressed him about moving on from the Epstein files, at which he called her her “the worst reporter,” continuing his attacks on her that initially started during his first administration.
“You know she’s a young woman — I don’t think I’ve ever seen you smile. I’ve known you for 10 years. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a smile on your face. You know why you’re not smiling? Because you know you’re not telling the truth,” Trump said.
The tense interaction occurred after Collins asked Trump about redactions in the Epstein files, to which he responded, “I think it’s really time for the country to get onto something else.” The president had previously referred to Collins as “stupid and nasty” in December 2025, while also telling another female reporter, “Quiet, piggy” aboard Air Force One in November 2025.
Trump claimed the latest tranche of documents related to Epstein absolves him, while speaking to reporters on Air Force One Saturday (January 31) night.
“I didn’t see it myself but I was told by some very important people that not only does it absolve me, it’s the opposite of what people were hoping, you know, the radical left,” Trump said during his flight on Air Force One via the New York Post.
Previously released Epstein documents confirmed that Trump flew on the late convicted pedophile’s private jet at least eight times during the mid-1990s and he’s reported to be mentioned thousands of times in various contexts, according to the New York Times.
