If you grew up watching Beverly Hills, 90210, you probably think you know Jennie Garth. But her new book I Choose Me proves there’s a whole lot more to her story, and it’s refreshingly real.
Garth, best known as Kelly Taylor, is now in her 50s and pulling back the curtain on what it actually means to grow up in Hollywood. For those of us old enough to remember, Kelly Taylor first utters the words “I choose me” during a love triangle moment with Dylan and Brandon. And that’s a phrase Garth says she didn’t fully understand at the time.
In I Choose Me, she gets candid about navigating impossible beauty standards, heartbreak, motherhood, and those quiet moments where you wonder, “Wait… who am I now?”
She joined me on KFI Live and told me her book isn’t a glossy celebrity memoir. It’s a deeply personal reset. Garth writes openly about losing herself, and the hard, messy work of finding her way back. She tackles that inner voice telling women they’re “not enough,” and replaces it with something far more powerful: permission to take up space, speak honestly, and want more.
And she’s taking that message beyond the page.
On April 25, Garth is hosting the I Choose ME live event at the iHeartRadio Theater in Burbank in partnership with iHeart Podcasts and IT Cosmetics. Think less “self-help seminar” and more empowering girls’ day out, with a seriously impressive guest lineup including Amanda Kloots, Bozoma Saint John, Jeannie Mai, Sarah Shahi, and Dr. Daniel Amen. The event and book are named after her iHeartRadio podcast of the same name.
She tells me her focus is flipping the script on self-care. Not indulgent. Not selfish. But necessary.
