A Japan Airlines jet collided with the tail of a parked Delta Air Lines plane at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Wednesday (February 5). The incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. between the S Concourse and the south airport maintenance hangars. No injuries have been reported.
The Delta aircraft, a Boeing 737, was preparing for a flight to Puerto Vallarta with 142 passengers on board. According to KOMO, the collision took place on a taxi line, which has resulted in minimal impact on airport operations. However, passengers are advised to check with their airlines for any updates.
Both the Port of Seattle Fire and Police departments, along with Sea-Tac Airport operations, responded promptly to the scene. KCPQ reported that as of 11 a.m., there were at least 114 delays and 20 cancellations, though it is unclear if these are directly related to the incident or due to weather conditions.
Delta Air Lines issued a statement apologizing for the experience and delay, confirming that they will work with aviation stakeholders to investigate the incident. The situation is still developing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
