Israel issued its “final warning” to Hamas, threatening a “mighty hurricane” of strikes on Gaza City Monday (September 8).
“Today, a powerful hurricane will strike the skies of Gaza City, and the roofs of the terror towers will,” Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz wrote in a translated post on his X account. “This is a final warning to the murderers and rapists of Hamas in Gaza and in luxury hotels abroad: Release the hostages and lay down your weapons—or Gaza will be destroyed, and you will be annihilated. The IDF continues as planned—and is preparing to expand the maneuver to decisively defeat Gaza.”
Katz’s threat came after President Donald Trump issued his own “last warning” to Hamas on Sunday (September 7), urging them to accept his terms for a proposed ceasefire, though not elaborating further on what the terms were.
“The Israelis have accepted my Terms. It is time for Hamas to accept as well,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.
“I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting. This is my last warning, there will not be another one!”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered troops to capture Gaza City last month in an effort to wipe out all remaining remnants of Hamas as the group continues to hold hostages from the October 7, 2023, attacks on an Israeli music festival. Hamas had previously released some hostages during a temporary ceasefire and vowed to do the same again, however, Netanyahu has pushed for an all-or-nothing deal in which all hostages are released and Hamas surrenders.
