A fugitive assassin wanted since 2019 was arrested in the Armenian capital of Yerevan. Aimee Betro, 44, was located thanks to the help of a Daily Mail reporter, who managed to locate Betro in just a matter of days. Betro was wanted in connection with the failed assassination attempt of a British businessman.
The reporter scoured Betro’s Instagram page and was able to identify her location using the background details in her selfies and sunset photos taken from inside her living room.
MailOnline then reported her suspected whereabouts to the police, who were able to confirm that Betro was renting out an apartment in a gated community. Betro was taken into custody during an early-morning raid and will be extradited to the United Kingdom to face charges for the failed assassination attempt in 2019.
Betro allegedly tried to kill clothing store owner Sikander Ali, but her gun jammed. She then tried again later, firing three shots through the window. However, nobody was injured, and Betro fled back to her home in Wisconsin before she could be identified.
She was hired to kill Ali by Mohammed Aslam, 56, and his son Mohammed Nazir, 30, who were both convicted of conspiracy to murder for their role in orchestrating the assassination attempt.
