ACTON (CNS) – A California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation inmate was apprehended Thursday after he walked away from an Acton Conservation Camp.
Jessie Meza, 38, who walked from the camp on Tuesday, was apprehended about 10:20 a.m. Thursday without incident in Bakersfield, according to a state agency news statement.
“He will be re-housed at a prison and his case will be referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney for possible escape charges,” according to the news statement.
Meza had begun serving a 16-year sentence on March 11, 2022 in Kern County for assault with a firearm with an enhancement for the use of a firearm and possessing a firearm as a felon, both second-strike offenses, and vandalism.
