An illegal migrant was arrested for allegedly raping a 5-year-old girl on Long Island, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Department announced via the New York Post.
Wilson Castillo Diaz, 26, was charged with rape, attempted rape and endangering the welfare of a child in relation to an incident that allegedly took place on October 16. Details on the incident, including Diaz’s relationship with the victim and where it allegedly took place, were not immediately made available.
The 5-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital to undergo a medical evaluation after the alleged incident took place, according to police. Diaz, whose native country was not mentioned by police, but was living in Westbury, is reported to have illegally crossed the U.S. border near Rio Grande, Texas, in April 2014 and had previously been detained by U.S. border agents but was released after being served with a notice to appear before an immigration judge, which he failed to do.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was notified of Diaz’s arrest in relation to the alleged rape incident, according to police. Diaz was arraigned last Wednesday in relation to the incident and is currently being held at the Nassau County Correctional Center on a $200,000 cash bond.
In September, Diego Rodriguez-Salvador, 23, a “ghost” migrant from Honduras, was charged with second-degree kidnapping and second-degree rape of a juvenile victim. In July, Bryan Daniel Aldana-Arevalo, 28, an illegal migrant from El Salvador, was charged with one count of rape of a child with a 10-year age difference and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child.
In June, Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, 26, and Johan Jose Rangel Martinez, 21, both illegal migrants from Venezuela, were accused of luring 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray under a bridge and sexually assaulted her in Houston for two hours before killing her.
