A Colombian woman labeled as a “dangerous hitwoman” was arrested in connection to several murders, including the ambush of her ex-lover earlier this year, police in the Magdalena Medio Antioquia region reported earlier this week.
Karen Julieth Ojeda Rodriguez, 23, known by her alias ‘La Muñeca,’ which translates to ‘The Doll’ in English, was arrested on December 1 for orchestrating a small group of hitmen to carry out several high-profile murders in the municipality of Barrancabermeja by orders of the Los de la M gang, the Spanish-language outlet Libertad Digital reported on Thursday (December 5) (h/t/ the New York Post). Rodriguez’s group was reportedly growing at the time of her arrest, according to the Spanish outlet Infobae.
Rodriguez is accused in the July 23 of her ex-boyfriend, Deyvy Jesus, whom she invited to meet her on the pretense of resolving a money dispute, which resulted in two men driving by on a motorcycle and riddling him with bullets at the behest of her. An accomplice, Paula Valentina Joya Rueda, 24, known by the alias ‘Gorda Sicaria,’ which translates to ‘Fat Hitwoman,’ was arrested alongside Rodriguez, while another, identified as ‘Leopoldo,’ was detained at the same time, with police seizing a revolver and 9-millimeter pistol at the time of his arrest.
Police are working to determine whether the weapons seized were used during the string of killing committed by the gang. Charges against La Muñeca and her alleged accomplices have not yet publicly been revealed.
“With the capture of alias La Muneca and alias Leopoldo, a period of calm has been created in the region. These arrests mark progress in the dismantling of criminal structures responsible for the recent homicides,” said Lt. Col. Muaricio Herrara of the Magdalena Medio Police via Infobae.
