Benedetto Ceraulo, known for his role in the 1995 murder of fashion mogul Maurizio Gucci, is in serious condition after shooting his son and attempting suicide. The incident occurred on Tuesday (April 22) in Santa Maria al Monte, near Pisa, where Ceraulo was living after his release from prison. Ceraulo, 63, shot his 37-year-old son, Gaetano, during a family dispute in their rented country house. Gaetano managed to flee the scene after being wounded.
According to The Daily Mail, Gaetano drove himself to a nearby bar, where he was met by paramedics and taken to the hospital, where he is in stable condition. After his son left, Ceraulo turned to the pistol on himself. He was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.
Ceraulo was convicted for the murder of Maurizio Gucci, a crime orchestrated by Gucci’s ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani. He served a lengthy prison sentence before his release. The murder of Gucci remains a significant event in Italy’s history, and it recently gained renewed attention due to the film House of Gucci and a documentary on Investigation Discovery.
The recent incident involving Ceraulo adds another layer to the already complex narrative surrounding the Gucci murder. Authorities are investigating the circumstances leading to the family dispute and subsequent violence.
