Police are on the hunt for a hit-and-run driver involved in a tragic crash in Los Angeles’ Westlake neighborhood late Sunday night. The collision occurred around 11:50 p.m. near the intersection of West 8th Street and South Alvarado Street, resulting in one death and leaving another person critically injured.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a vehicle traveling southbound on Alvarado Street collided with another vehicle heading westbound on 8th Street. The impact sent one of the vehicles careening onto the sidewalk, where it struck two pedestrians. Emergency crews quickly arrived on the scene and transported the injured pedestrians to a nearby hospital. Tragically, a 45-year-old man was pronounced dead, while the other pedestrian remains in critical condition.
KTLA reports that the identities of the victims have not been released, and the condition of the second driver involved in the crash is unclear. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and authorities are actively searching for the driver who fled the scene.
