Hemet police are investigating a case involving a man impersonating a motorcycle officer. On Monday, officers pulled over Marshal Goodnight, who was riding a black-and-white motorcycle with “Traffic Public Safety” decals and wearing a uniform resembling that of local law enforcement. Goodnight, a convicted felon, was found carrying a Glock-style pistol, two stun guns, pepper spray, and a baton, according to Hemet Police Department.
The incident began when officers observed Goodnight committing multiple vehicle code violations while activating emergency lights on his motorcycle. Upon stopping him, they discovered his uniform and gear, leading to his arrest. Goodnight faces several charges, including impersonating a law enforcement officer, being a felon in possession of weapons, and possessing a leaded baton.
Hemet police confirmed that Goodnight is not licensed to provide security services through California’s Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact Sgt. Matthew Chavez at 951-765-2400 ext. 3725.
Police emphasize the importance of public safety and advise residents to call 911 if they suspect someone is impersonating an officer. They recommend keeping doors locked and windows up until the identity of the officer can be confirmed.
