Former President Joe Biden Begins Radiation Therapy For Cancer

Former President Joe Biden is undergoing radiation therapy as part of his treatment for prostate cancer, according to a spokesperson. Diagnosed in May with an aggressive form of the disease that has metastasized to his bones, Biden is now in a new phase of care that includes radiation and hormone treatments.

The radiation therapy is expected to last five weeks. Previously, Biden had been receiving routine scans and hormone medication in pill form. His spokesperson told Fox News that the cancer is hormone-sensitive, allowing for effective management.

Biden’s battle with cancer has been a significant part of his public life, especially after losing his son Beau to brain cancer in 2015. While in office, he launched the Cancer Moonshot initiative, aiming to cut the cancer death rate in half by 2047.

Despite his diagnosis, Biden and his family have maintained a positive outlook. In May, he told Politico that “everything looks good” regarding his treatment plan. The former president, who turns 83 next month, is reportedly “doing well.”
