Fly Directly To Wine! Southwest Adds Sonoma County to Its Network

Southwest Airlines will begin service from Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport in Santa Rosa, starting April 7, 2026. The airline will offer nonstop flights to San Diego, Las Vegas, Denver, and Burbank, expanding its network in the state. The San Diego and Las Vegas routes will operate daily, with two round-trips to San Diego on peak days. Service to Burbank will run five days a week, while Denver flights will initially be available on Saturdays.

The addition of Southwest Airlines is a significant development for the Sonoma County Airport, which is located in the heart of Northern California’s Wine Country. The airport manager, Jon Stout, expressed enthusiasm about the new service, stating, “Southwest has long been a heavily requested carrier, and I’m proud to deliver for the people of Sonoma County.”

Tickets for these new routes became available for purchase on September 11, 2025. The announcement follows the recent cessation of Avelo Airlines’ operations at the airport in August. Andrew Watterson, Chief Operating Officer at Southwest Airlines, said, “Adding Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport to our route map provides more access to California’s famed Wine Country for our customers.”

This move is expected to provide more travel options for residents and visitors, enhancing connectivity to and from the North Bay region. For more information, visit the Sonoma County Airport website.
