Florida Couple Arrested Trying To Board Flight Without Authorization

A couple was arrested at Miami International Airport on Sunday (March 2) after attempting to board an American Airlines flight to Cancún without authorization. Rafael Seirafe-Novaes, 40, and Beatriz Rapoport De Campos Maia, 29, allegedly forced their way onto a restricted jet bridge, ignoring “no trespassing” signs and commands from a ticketing agent, as reported by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.

The couple reportedly pushed two people and Rapoport De Campos Maia is accused of throwing coffee at them.

Both individuals were charged with battery and trespassing, while Seirafe-Novaes also faces a charge of resisting an officer without violence. They were released on bond the following Monday. The couple, who are American Airlines Advantage Platinum Pro members, stated they were rushing to catch a connecting flight to celebrate their recent engagement in Cancún.

American Airlines confirmed the incident and emphasized that acts of violence are not tolerated. The airline is cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation. The couple was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami, and it remains unclear if they have legal representation.
