A Flood watch is in effect through 4 p.m. Monday for the Eaton, Palisades, Franklin, Bridge, and Hughes burn scars in Los Angeles County, according to the National Weather Service.
“A cold upper level low pressure system will bring shower activity to the region through at least Monday morning, then diminishing some by Monday afternoon,” the forecast reads. “As the colder air aloft moves into the region today and tonight, there will likely be increased coverage and intensity of shower activity and a 15-25 percent chance of thunderstorms. Rain rates with the system will generally remain less than 0.25 inches per hour, but isolated pockets of rain rates between 0.50 and 0.75 inches per hour will be likely near heavier convective showers and thunderstorms. As a result of these locally higher rainfall rates exceeding USGS thresholds, there is the potential for flash flooding and debris flows across the recent burn scars, especially the Eaton, Palisades, Franklin, Bridge, and Hughes burn scars.”
