Five Stabbed at Riverside Sober Living Facility

Five people were stabbed early Monday at a sober living facility in Riverside, leaving one person in critical condition. The incident occurred just before 4 a.m. at the Elmer Day Sober Living home on Fourth Street, near Fairmont Boulevard, according to the Riverside Police Department.

Riverside Police Department Officer Ryan Railsback reported that a resident of the facility attacked his five roommates. The victims were transported to local hospitals, with one individual in critical condition. The suspect, who appeared to have self-inflicted stab wounds, was taken into custody after initially barricading himself inside the home. He surrendered peacefully after dousing himself with water.

Eyewitnesses described the chaotic scene, with one resident recounting how he heard a loud commotion and glass breaking before seeing the suspect armed with two knives. He and his roommate managed to keep the suspect out of their room, avoiding injury.

The motive behind the attack is still under investigation, and the names of the victims and the suspect have not been released. The suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
