Five People Arrested In Beverly Hills Smash-and-Grab Robbery

BEVERLY HILLS (CNS) – Five people suspected of a smash-and-grab robbery at a hotel in Beverly Hills, injuring a security guard in the process and briefly eluding law enforcement, Friday were taken into custody.

Officers responded to the 9800 block of Wilshire Boulevard, near Santa Monica Boulevard, on Friday afternoon following reports of a business robbery, according to the Beverly Hills Police Department.

The suspects fled the scene in several vehicles, but officers located one of the cars, described as a black Mercedes-Benz sedan, and attempted a traffic stop. A brief pursuit ensued near Sepulveda Boulevard and Moraga Drive after the motorist failed to yield.

Five suspects were ultimately taken into custody without further incident, and police recovered evidence connected to the alleged crime.

“I would like to remind criminals that the BHPD is fully staffed and ready to respond to any crimes,” Beverly Hills Police Department Chief Mark G. Stainbrook said in a statement.

“During this tumultuous time, as fires affect parts of the region, the BHPD remains steadfast in its mission to protect and serve the community — crime of any type will not be tolerated in Beverly Hills.”

Detectives continued the investigation into the smash-and-grab robbery Friday evening, while several suspects were still being sought.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery was urged to call the BHPD at 310-550-4951. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477, text BHPDALERT to 888777, or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
