Firefighters Douse Blaze in Commercial Building in Van Nuys

VAN NUYS (CNS) – Fire destroyed a business inside a single-story commercial building in Van Nuys today, but no injuries were reported.

The fire was reported around 1:30 p.m. in the 7800 block of North Balboa Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Fire officials said there were multiple businesses within the structure, and a mobile home park south of the complex was also threatened by the flames.

Crews managed to douse the flames in about a half-hour, containing the fire primarily to the original unit in the structure, although officials were still assessing possible damage to other businesses, according to the LAFD.

The flames did not reach the mobile home park. Arson investigators were on the scene to determine the cause of the blaze.
