FBI Increases Reward For Fugitive On Top 10 Most Wanted List To $1 Million

The FBI has increased the reward to $1 million for information leading to the arrest of Omar Alexander Cardenas, one of its “Top Ten Most Wanted Fugitives.” Cardenas is wanted for allegedly murdering a man in Sylmar, Los Angeles, on August 15, 2019.

According to the FBI, Cardenas allegedly fired several rounds from a semi-automatic handgun, fatally striking the victim in the head outside a barber shop. The victim reportedly did not know his attacker. A local warrant was issued for Cardenas’ arrest in April 2020, followed by a federal warrant in September 2021 for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

In July 2022, Cardenas was added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list. The reward for information leading to his arrest was initially set at $100,000, later increased to $250,000, and now stands at $1 million. Cardenas, who is believed to be an associate of the Pierce Street gang and the Pacoima Van Nuys Boys Anybody Killas, remains at large. He is considered armed and dangerous.

At a press conference on Tuesday (March 10), Akil Davis, FBI Assistant Director in Charge of the Los Angeles Field Office, warned Cardenas, “Mexico is not safe for you, if that’s where you’re hiding.” Authorities urge anyone with information on Cardenas’ whereabouts to contact the FBI’s tip-line at 1-800-225-5324. Callers can remain anonymous, and tips can also be submitted online or in person at any American Embassy or Consulate.
