Family Renews Plea for Help in Killing of 14-Year-Old in South L.A

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KFI) — The family of a 14-year-old boy who was shot and killed in South Los Angeles last year after authorities say he was mistaken for a gang member is renewing its plea for help finding his killer.

Sheriff’s detectives say Elijah Davenport was sitting in a parked car with a friend near Jarvis Avenue and 132nd Street in February 2025 when someone opened fire from a black sedan.

Investigators have released surveillance video of the sedan and believe people connected to the vehicle may live in the area. Detectives say they were unable to track the car on surveillance cameras beyond the area of 108th and Main streets.

Elijah’s mother says the family will not give up until those responsible are brought to justice.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact detectives at 323-890-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
