Former Los Angeles Lakers player Christian Wood confronted three intruders during a home invasion at his Sherman Oaks residence on Wednesday. According to the Los Angeles police, Wood was inside his home on the 14800 block of Otsego Street when the suspects broke in through the back door around 1 p.m.
Wood, who played for the Lakers from 2023 to 2025, responded by firing three warning shots into the ground, which successfully scared off the intruders. The suspects fled the scene in a gray Jeep Cherokee, heading toward Sepulveda Boulevard.
No injuries were reported, and nothing was taken from the home. The incident is part of a growing trend of burglaries and robberies in Sherman Oaks and nearby Encino. Residents have been urging local leaders to enhance security measures in response to these violent break-ins.
The police are actively searching for the suspects, who remain at large. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing safety concerns in the San Fernando Valley area.
