Elementary School Teacher Accused Of Throwing Rocks At Student

A Las Vegas elementary school teacher is facing charges after allegedly throwing rocks at a student and engaging in a physical altercation. The incident occurred on April 24 at Red Rock Elementary School, where Alicia Fletcher worked as a specialized programs teacher assistant. According to the Clark County School District Police Department, the student, who has health conditions, sustained bruises on his eye.

The altercation began when the student threw pebbles at Fletcher, who then reportedly retaliated by throwing pebbles back. The situation escalated into a physical struggle, with Fletcher allegedly holding the student down and using her legs to restrain him. Campus security eventually intervened, and police documented the student’s injuries with photographs.

Fletcher, 31, was arrested on suspicion of attempted child abuse and battery and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on April 25. She has been placed on unpaid leave by the school district pending further investigation. Fletcher is scheduled to appear in Las Vegas Justice Court on June 2.

The incident was captured on school surveillance cameras, and several witnesses reported the altercation. Fletcher admitted to police that she and the student were throwing rocks at each other and that the situation escalated when the student became angry. She claimed the student attempted to bite her, prompting her to hold his head away.

Fletcher has posted a surety bond and is awaiting her court appearance. The case has raised concerns about teacher-student interactions and the handling of disciplinary issues in schools.
