Police in Fort Worth, Texas, are actively searching for the driver of a black SUV involved in a hit-and-run incident that injured eight-year-old Liam Park last Friday (September 5). According to Fox News, the driver struck Liam while he was riding his bike at the Mercantile Square apartment complex, briefly exited the vehicle to assess the situation, and then fled the scene without offering assistance.
Liam, a third-grader, suffered severe abrasions but miraculously avoided any broken bones. He was taken to the hospital and has since been released, though he continues to experience pain and emotional distress. His mother, Baylea Christiansen, expressed her frustration, stating, “My kid was left to be helped by a bunch of other kids in the street,” as reported by KTVT.
The Fort Worth Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit is leading the investigation. Officer Buddy Calzada urged the public to come forward with any information, emphasizing the importance of identifying the driver. Witnesses described the vehicle as a dark-colored SUV or pickup, and police are asking anyone with details to contact Detective Mask at 817-392-4662.
Liam’s father, Kyle Parker, shared the emotional toll the incident has taken on their family, saying, “Every time I look at him, I mean, I put myself in his shoes and it hurts,” according to KDFW. The family and local community remain hopeful that the driver will be found and held accountable.
