An angry driver intentionally crashed into a CarMax dealership in Inglewood on Saturday afternoon, injuring eight people, including two who are in critical condition. The incident occurred at the CarMax located on the 8600 block of La Cienega Boulevard.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the driver was a customer at the dealership, having his vehicle appraised when a disturbance occurred. The customer then left the building, got into his car, and drove into the dealership, injuring several employees and customers. The driver attempted to flee the scene but was quickly detained and arrested by LAPD at a nearby location. The suspect is currently in the custody of the Inglewood Police Department, though his identity has not been released.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department initially received reports of an active shooter but later updated the call to a “vehicle into a structure” incident. Emergency crews arrived at the scene around 2:10 p.m. and requested additional resources. Two of the injured were taken to the hospital in critical condition, while the others were treated for minor injuries on site. By 5:45 p.m., all injured individuals were reported to be in stable condition.
CarMax issued a statement expressing their sadness over the event and gratitude for the swift response from authorities. They are working with law enforcement on the ongoing investigation and have emphasized the safety of their associates, community, and customers as their top priority.
