Dr. Phil Joins ICE During LA Immigration Raids

Dr. Phil McGraw, known for his daytime television show, was present during controversial immigration raids in Los Angeles last Friday. McGraw and his camera crew were there to document the operations for his conservative TV channel, MeritTV, according to a report by the New York Post.

The raids, conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), took place in downtown Los Angeles and outside a Home Depot in Paramount. They sparked protests that led to several arrests, including union official David Huerta. The presence of McGraw, who interviewed White House border advisor Tom Homan, was seen as part of a broader media event. Homan explained that the raids were part of a larger money laundering investigation, resulting in the arrest of 41 individuals.

The situation escalated when President Trump, against the objections of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom, deployed the National Guard. This decision led to clashes and vandalism, with portions of Los Angeles freeways being shut down. Governor Newsom announced plans to sue the Trump administration for the National Guard deployment.

Dr. Phil, who is not a journalist or immigration expert, has been criticized for his involvement. His presence during the raids is viewed as a way to publicize the administration’s immigration policies, aligning with his previous support for President Trump.
