Dodgers to Unveil Support Plans for Immigrant Communities

The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to announce plans to support immigrant communities affected by recent federal immigration raids in Los Angeles. The announcement, expected tpday, will be the team’s first official response to the raids that began in early June. The raids, part of President Donald Trump’s intensified immigration enforcement, have sparked protests across the country and left many of the Dodgers’ fans in fear.

The Dodgers initially chose not to comment on the raids, a decision that drew criticism from parts of their fan base. Only a few local sports teams, like Los Angeles FC and Angel City FC, have addressed the issue publicly. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts described the events as “unsettling” but refrained from further comments, stating he needed more information.

Kiké Hernández, a Dodgers player, voiced his support for the immigrant community on Instagram, expressing his sadness and anger over the situation. “This is my second home,” Hernández wrote, “and I cannot stand to see our community being violated, profiled, abused, and ripped apart.”

The Dodgers faced backlash after singer Nezza performed the Spanish version of the national anthem at Dodger Stadium, despite being asked not to. The team later clarified that Nezza was welcome back at the stadium.

While the specifics of the Dodgers’ support plans are not yet clear, the organization aims to address the concerns of their diverse fan base and provide assistance to those impacted by the raids.
