Dodgers Clinch 12th Division Title in 13 Seasons

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – The Dodgers clinched their 12th National League West title in the past 13 seasons with an 8-0 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks Thursday in Phoenix with Shohei Ohtani hitting his 54th home run, tying the franchise record he set last season.

Freddie Freeman and Andy Pages hit back-to-back homers to begin the second inning. Freeman hit a two-run homer in the fifth, three batters after Ohtani’s two-run homer.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto (12-8) limited the Diamondbacks to four hits over six innings.

The Dodgers will begin postseason play Tuesday against the National League’s No. 3 wild-card team. The entire best-of-three series will be played at Dodger Stadium.

The New York Mets have a one-game lead over the Cincinnati Reds in the race for the NL’s third and final wild-card berth, with Arizona two games behind. All three teams have two games remaining.
