Dodgers, Blue Jays To Meet in Game 3 of World Series at Dodger Stadium

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – The Dodgers will try to take a two games to one lead over the Toronto Blue Jays Monday as the World Series shifts to Dodger Stadium.

Tyler Glasnow will pitch for the Dodgers, with 41-year-old future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer — who was briefly a Dodger during the team’s 2021 stretch run — pitching for the Blue Jays.

“We have to have Tyler come out and pitch well,” Dodger manager Dave Roberts said at a news conference Sunday.

“We know Scherzer from years past, and we have to know that he’s going to come in and compete and make pitches, and we’ve got to have a good game plan and execute and play sound baseball, and then everything will take care of itself.”

The game is set to begin at 5:10 p.m. will be televised on Fox, broadcast in English by KLAC-AM (570) and in Spanish by KTNQ-AM (1020).

Three Dodger batters who were teammates of Scherzer remain with the team — Mookie Betts, Max Muncy and Will Smith — along with Roberts and six of his coaches, prompting Scherzer to call Monday’s game “the ultimate chess game.”

“They’re making moves. I’m making moves,” Scherzer said at a news conference Saturday. “That’s just baseball. But it’s been like that for years for me now. I understand how everybody wants to attack me, how I want to attack them.

“At the end of the day, you got to go out there and compete and you got to throw strikes. It kind of gets back down to the basics. So you can try and make it as advanced as you want, but a lot of times it’s the more simple approach that works better. You got to go out there and want to win.”

Glasnow has no record and a hold in two 2025 postseason starts and one relief appearance with an 0.68 ERA.

The right-hander was 4-3 with a 3.19 ERA in the regular season, which included a stint on the injured list from April 28 to July 9 because of right shoulder inflammation. The Dodgers were 10-8 in his starts.

Glasnow did not figure in the decision in the Dodgers’ 5-4 loss at Toronto Aug. 10 when he allowed two runs and four hits in 5 2/3 innings, struck out eight and walked four. The 2011 graduate of Hart High in Santa Clarita is 1- 4 with a 5.82 ERA in 11 starts against the Blue Jays.

Scherzer was 5-5 with a 5.19 ERA in the 2025 regular season for Toronto, who was 9-8 in his starts. He was on the injured list from March 30 to June 25 due to right thumb inflammation.

Scherzer was the losing pitcher in the opener of the Blue Jays’ three- game series against the Dodgers in August, allowing two runs and six hits in six innings in a 5-1 loss Aug. 8 at Dodger Stadium.

Scherzer is 5-6 with a 2.38 ERA in 17 starts and two relief appearances against the Dodgers.

This will be his second postseason appearance for Toronto. Scherzer was the winning pitcher in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series, allowing two runs and three hits in 5 2/3 innings and was credited with the victory in an 8-2 win.

Scherzer was the sixth-oldest player in Major League Baseball in 2025.

The Dodgers acquired Scherzer and infielder Trea Turner on July 30, 2021 in a six-player trade with the Washington Nationals.

Scherzer was 7-0 with a 1.98 ERA in the 2021 regular season as a Dodger, with the team winning all 11 of his starts.

Scherzer was 0-1 with a save with a 2.16 ERA in three postseason starts and a relief appearance as a Dodger. He had been scheduled to pitch in Game 6 of the NLCS but was scratched because of arm soreness.  With Walker Buehler pitching on three days rest, the Dodgers lost 4-2 to the Atlanta Braves and the series, four games to two.

Scherzer signed a three-year, $130 million contract with the New York Mets on Dec. 1, 2021, according to Cot’s Contracts, a website that bills itself as “a clearinghouse for MLB salary and payroll details.”

Scherzer was 20-9 in two-plus seasons with the Mets, then was traded with cash to the Texas Rangers on July 30, 2023 in exchange for infielder Luisangel Acuña, who has hit .248 in 109 games with the Mets in the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

Scherzer was 6-6 in one-plus season with the Rangers and was part of its 2023 World Series championship team.

Scherzer signed a one-year, $15.5 million contract with the Blue Jays Feb. 4, according to Cot’s Contracts.

ESPN’s Matchup Predictor gives the Dodgers a 67.9% chance of winning Monday, Toronto a 32.1% chance. The Dodgers have a 63.6% chance of winning the Series, the Blue Jays a 36.4% chance, according to FanGraphs. a baseball statistics and advanced analytics website.
