Disneyland Resort announced significant changes coming to Disney California Adventure Park, including the closure of the ‘Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!’ ride. The attraction will close in early 2026 to make way for a new ‘Avatar’-themed destination inspired by James Cameron’s films. The new area will be located in the Hollywood Backlot section of the park, offering visitors a chance to explore the fictional world of Pandora.
The ‘Avatar’ experience will feature a grand-scale attraction that takes guests on an adventure through Pandora’s oceans, showcasing the beauty and danger of this fictional world. According to USA Today, the project is still in the early stages of development, with more details and a construction timeline to be released soon.
In addition to the ‘Avatar’ destination, Disneyland will introduce its first ‘Coco’-themed ride, located near Pixar Pier and Paradise Gardens Park. Construction for this attraction is set to begin this fall. Furthermore, the Avengers Campus will double in size with two new attractions, and a new parking structure with 6,000 spaces will be built on the resort’s east side. ABC7 Chicago reports that this structure will include shuttle and rideshare areas and a pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard.
These developments are part of Disneyland’s ongoing efforts to expand and enhance its offerings, promising exciting new experiences for visitors. More updates are expected as the projects progress, according to BlogMickey.
