Disney Cruise Ship Rescues Four People From Sinking Boat Near Bermuda

A Disney Cruise Line ship rescued four people who were stranded in a sinking boat near Bermuda on Sunday (November 10). The United States Coast Guard said it received a distress call from the boaters, who said that their ship, Serenity, was taking on water after a gasket failure.

The Coast Guard issued a broadcast asking if there were any nearby ships that could provide assistance to the stranded boaters. The Disney Treasure, which was heading from Eemshaven in the Netherlands to Port Canaveral, Florida, replied to the request, saying the ship was about 80 miles from the stranded boaters.

The Disney Treasure then dispatched one of its smaller boats to assist. The crew rescued the boaters, who were identified as a married couple, their daughter, and their cousin.

They were uninjured and brought back to the Disney Treasure.

“We are pleased that the Disney Treasure was able to provide aid to the boat passengers in peril. Our crew members worked together on the rescue, skillfully demonstrating their training and commitment to safety,” Disney Treasure Captain Marco Nogara said in a statement to ABC News.
