Deputy Wounded, Robbery Suspect Dead in Lancaster Shootout

LANCASTER (CNS) – A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy was wounded and an armed robbery suspect was killed Saturday in a shootout in Lancaster.

The situation started with a robbery call for service at 7:20 p.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of Meadow View Circle, near West Avenue K and 12th Street West, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

There was a shootout between at least one deputy and a man suspected of armed robbery, which left the suspect dead at the scene and sent the deputy to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he was undergoing surgery.

The deputy is currently in critical, but stable condition, according to the LASD.
