Deputy Receives Coffee Cup with Pig Drawing at Norwalk Starbucks

An LA County Sheriff’s deputy received a cup of coffee with a hand-drawn image of a pig at a Starbucks in Norwalk on Friday.

Deputy Brandon Longoria, who was working a 16-hour shift, shared his experience on social media, expressing that the drawing felt “discouraging and disrespectful.” He added, “All I wanted was caffeine, but instead I left feeling uneasy.”

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement that they are “deeply concerned” about the incident. The deputy reported the drawing to the store manager, who promised to investigate the matter further.

Starbucks responded by launching an investigation and apologizing to both the deputy and the department. A Starbucks spokesperson explained that the drawing was intended to resemble “John Pork,” a popular online meme, and was not meant to be given to any customer. The spokesperson added, “We have a deep appreciation and respect for law enforcement, who are dedicated to keeping our communities safe.”

The incident highlights the ongoing tension between law enforcement and public perception, underscoring the need for sensitivity and respect in all interactions. The Starbucks investigation is ongoing, and the company has assured that appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings.
