LOS ANGELES (CNS) – “Deadpool & Wolverine” is the nation’s most popular movie for another week, grossing $19.4 million over the four-day Labor Day weekend, according to industry estimates released Monday.
Marvel’s mash-up sequel to its 2016 hit has surpassed $600 million domestically in its six weeks of release.
“Alien: Romulus” held onto second place with $11.1 million Friday through Monday in its third weekend in North American theaters, Comscore reported.
“Reagan,” a biopic of the nation’s 40th president starring Dennis Quaid, opened with $10 million over the four-day weekend to claim third place.
“Twisters” was fourth with $9.56 million in its seventh week, followed by “It Ends with Us,” a domestic violence drama starring Blake Lively — who is married to “Deadpool & Wolverine” star Ryan Reynolds — which made $9.5 million in its fourth weekend.
Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases were “The Forge” ($6.3 million), “Blink Twice” ($6.1 million), “Despicable Me 4” ($5.5 million), “Afraid” ($4.4 million) and the 15th anniversary re-release of “Coraline” ($4 million).
