Costa Mesa Police Looking for Hit-And-Run Motorist in Pedestrian Fatality

COSTA MESA (CNS) – Costa Mesa police Thursday sought the public’s help to find the hit-and-run motorist responsible for killing a 64-year-old woman crossing a street.

The woman was fatally injured about 9 p.m. Wednesday on Fairview Road just south of Baker Street, the Costa Mesa Police Department reported.

She was identified as Linda Lefler of Costa Mesa, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Department.

Witnesses described the vehicle as possibly a silver Toyota sedan, which sustained “moderate” damage to the front end and windshield, police said. No description was released of the motorist.

Anyone with information on the case, including any businesses that may have security video footage, was urged to call police Traffic Investigator Luis Gomez at 714-754-5264.
