Congresswoman Says Family Target Of A Bomb Threat

Rep. Lori Trahan of Massachusetts reported that her family was targeted by a bomb threat on Saturday (December 7). The Westford Police Department, alongside the U.S. Capitol Police and Massachusetts State Police, is investigating the incident. According to NBC News, the threat was received via email, prompting a swift response from local authorities. The Massachusetts State Police’s bomb squad inspected Trahan’s residence and found no explosive device, declaring the area safe.

In a statement, Trahan expressed gratitude to the officers involved and emphasized that “threats of violence and intimidation have no place in our country.”

The Massachusetts State Police noted that the threat appears to be part of a series of unfounded threats against political figures nationwide. This incident follows a pattern of threats targeting political figures, including several Democratic lawmakers from New England who received similar threats over the Thanksgiving holiday. The Hill reported that the FBI is aware of these threats and is collaborating with law enforcement to address them.
