Comedian Paul Rodriguez Arrested for Narcotics in Burbank

Comedian and actor Paul Rodriguez, 70, was arrested on Friday night in Burbank, California, after police allegedly found narcotics in his vehicle during a traffic stop. According to Burbank Police Sgt. Stephen Turner, Rodriguez was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for “code violations” at approximately 7:30 p.m. near Victory Boulevard and Lamer Street. During the investigation, officers discovered narcotics in the vehicle.

Rodriguez was booked at the Burbank jail for possession of narcotics and was released with a citation to appear in court next month. However, Rodriguez contests the charges. He told TMZ that he was asleep in the passenger seat when an officer woke him up by ‘slapping him’ and that the drugs belonged to the driver. His attorney, Bobby Samini, stated that the charges are false and that Rodriguez’s arrest was a “violation of his civil rights.” Samini emphasized that Rodriguez cooperated fully with law enforcement and was not in possession of any controlled substances.

Rodriguez, known for his roles in films like “Blood Work” and “Rat Race,” began his career in stand-up comedy in Los Angeles in the late 1970s. Born in Mexico, he moved to East Los Angeles in his youth and has since become a prominent figure in entertainment, hosting shows on Univision and MTV.
