Comedian Andy Dick reportedly suffered an apparent overdose in Hollywood, as reported by TMZ.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when Dick, aged 59, was found slumped on steps outside a building in his neighborhood. Witnesses quickly rushed to help, with one reportedly administering Narcan to revive him. Video of the incident can be seen below.
In a video interview with TMZ, Dick admitted to smoking crack with a stranger he met on the street. He explained, “I don’t mind doing a little crack every now and then,” and described how he sat with the man, who was smoking something on tinfoil. Dick’s friends, who were present during the incident, said they were livestreaming their day with the comedian when he “got away” from them for a few minutes.
Andy Dick has a history of substance abuse and legal troubles. In 2023, he was arrested for public intoxication and failing to register as a sex offender. His past includes multiple arrests and allegations of inappropriate behavior. Despite these challenges, Dick is known for his roles on NBC’s “NewsRadio” and his MTV program, “The Andy Dick Show.”
Following the incident, Dick insisted he was “110 percent fine” and defended his friend for recording the event. He acknowledged his ongoing struggles with addiction, having previously told Vice that he had been to rehab over 20 times.
