A chilling new video shows the assault rifle used in a deadly shooting at a Georgia high school on the floor as students evacuated the building.
Footage obtained by the New York Post shows what appears to be the AR-15-style-weapon used by student Colt Gray during the Apalachee High School shooting Wednesday (September 4) lying on the ground with a magazine attached and another tan magazine next to it in the school’s hallway near a white sheet covering a body. Police confirmed that Gray, 14, used an AR-style weapon when he opened fire, killing two fellow students and two teachers, as well as injuring nine others, at around 10:30 a.m.
The two students, Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angular, both 14, and two teachers, Richard Aspinwall and Christina Irimie, were identified publicly by Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Chris Hosey during a press conference Wednesday evening. Another video obtained by the New York Post showed students on lockdown at Apalachee High School as the incident took place.
Gray surrendered to custody and is being charged with murder as an adult, Hosey confirmed.
“I have directed all available state resources to respond to the incident at Apalachee High School and urge all Georgians to join my family in praying for the safety of those in our classrooms, both in Barrow County and across the state,” Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp announced via the New York Post.
