Child Struck, Killed on Golden State Freeway in Santa Clarita Area

SANTA CLARITA (CNS) – The California Highway Patrol was investigating the death of a child who was run over on the Golden State (5) Freeway in the Santa Clarita area.

The death was reported about 3:40 a.m. Saturday on the northbound Golden State Freeway at Weldon Canyon Road, the CHP said.

A motorist called the CHP to report they struck an unknown stationary object which was blocking the roadway, the CHP said.

It was determined that object was a child who had been struck by several vehicles and died at the scene, officials said.

There was no word about a specific vehicle involved in the case or how the child came to be on the freeway.
