Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco expressed disappointment following his fourth-place finish in the California governor’s race on Tuesday.
Despite the outcome, Bianco remains determined to continue his efforts to improve the lives of Californians. Speaking at a campaign event at the Staybridge Suites in Eastvale, Bianco stated, “I know that we did everything that we could. In the end, no matter what, if it’s not in the cards for me to be your next governor, I’m still going to be the sheriff of the fourth largest county in the entire country, and I’m going to be fighting every single day to make sure Californians’ lives are better.”
Bianco, known for his signature cowboy hat, received a warm reception from his supporters when he joked about continuing to “make sure Sacramento hates me.” The sheriff, who has served since 2019, ran as a Republican in the crowded gubernatorial primary, which featured 61 candidates. According to ABC7 News, the top two candidates advancing to the general election are Republican Steve Hilton and Democrat Xavier Becerra, with Tom Steyer trailing in third.
Bianco’s campaign focused on public safety, economic growth, and challenging the status quo in California politics. Despite his loss, Bianco remains committed to his role as sheriff and his vision for a better California. Ballotpedia reports that his term as Riverside County Sheriff runs until January 8, 2029.
The primary election results highlighted the ongoing influence of President Donald Trump in California politics, with Hilton receiving his endorsement. As the general election approaches, Bianco’s supporters are hopeful that his message will continue to resonate with voters across the state.
