Carson Crackdown: 64 Arrested in Illegal Street Racing Sting

A large sting operation in Carson led to the arrest of at least 64 individuals and the towing of 25 vehicles involved in illegal street racing, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD). The operation took place on Sunday at the intersection of Avalon Boulevard and East Gardena Boulevard, an area marked by burnout and acceleration scuffs.

The crackdown is part of a coordinated effort by the LASD and the City of Carson to combat illegal street racing and reckless vehicle exhibitions. “Illegal street racing and reckless vehicle exhibitions are not only unlawful, but they are also deadly,” warned the LASD in a statement. “These disruptive activities endanger everyone who shares our roads,” as reported by KTLA.

The operation resulted in various charges, including reckless driving, driving under the influence, and drug-related offenses. Additionally, two vehicles were impounded for 30 days, and eight traffic citations were issued. Carson Station Captain Alise Norman emphasized that “street takeovers are not entertainment—they are dangerous, criminal behavior,” adding that the community’s safety is a top priority as reported by Yahoo News.

The LASD hopes this operation will deter future illegal street racing activities. The public is encouraged to report any street racing or takeover activity by contacting the LASD Carson Station or dialing 911 in emergencies as noted by FOX LA.
