LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Canter’s Deli will celebrate 95 years in Los Angeles next month by offering its signature hot pastrami sandwich for 95 cents during a one-night promotion at the landmark Fairfax District restaurant.
The anniversary special will be available Aug. 3 from 6 p.m. to midnight for dine-in customers only, according to the restaurant’s Instagram account. The offer is limited to one sandwich per customer.
The meal includes a hot pastrami sandwich, cole slaw, a pickle and a chocolate chip rugelach. Customers may substitute Mrs. Goldfarb’s plant-based corned beef in place of the pastrami, according to the social media post.
Founded in 1931, Canter’s has become one of Los Angeles’ best-known Jewish delicatessens. The restaurant has been recognized for its pastrami sandwiches and remains operated by the third and fourth generations of the Canter family.
Earlier this month, fourth-generation owner Alex Canter announced plans to launch Maggie’s Refuel, a chain of upscale gas stations and convenience stores. The concept, which is expected to debut in Beverly Hills, aims to combine traditional convenience store offerings with locally sourced food and other premium products.
