The Las Virgenes Unified School District in Calabasas, is facing legal action after a student allegedly took and manipulated nude photographs of a classmate. According to ABC7, the incident involved a former friend of the victim secretly filming her in the shower and using artificial intelligence to place her face on other people’s bodies. Some of these images reportedly ended up on a pornographic website.
The family of the 17-year-old victim claims the district failed to respond adequately to their repeated reports of harassment and bullying over a seven-month period. The victim’s mother stated, “For months, my daughter was silenced while the district turned a blind eye. This lawsuit isn’t just about justice… it’s about protecting every student who’s ever been dismissed, ignored, or retraumatized.”
Attorney Samuel Dordulian, representing the family, said they are suing for unspecified damages and demanding policy changes to ensure immediate disciplinary action against students who post inappropriate images. The lawsuit also claims the district allowed the alleged perpetrator to remain in school, exacerbating the victim’s depression and mental anguish.
The district, however, maintains that student safety is a priority. In response to the lawsuit, the superintendent stated that upon learning of the allegations, the administration reported the incident to the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department, which conducted a thorough investigation.
The victim, who has since left Calabasas High School, expressed the lasting impact of the incident, stating, “It was a really traumatizing and embarrassing experience for me. It has changed me, matured me. I’m constantly looking over my shoulder, wondering who knows what about me.”
