Several businesses on the iconic Sunset Strip in West Hollywood are closing their doors, with at least five establishments announcing closures since February. Among them is the beloved Le Petit Four restaurant, which has been a staple of the community since 1981. The restaurant announced its closure on Instagram, citing rising costs and a decline in foot traffic as reasons for the decision. A GoFundMe campaign aimed at raising $150,000 to save the restaurant has raised over $6,000, but Le Petit Four is still set to close on March 31.
Other businesses shutting down include The Den on Sunset, which will also close at the end of March, and Rock and Reilly’s Irish pub, which closed earlier this month. The pub, located near the famous Whisky A Go Go, had been open for nearly 15 years. Additionally, Hudson House, a newer establishment, closed on March 19, and Sunset Strip Liquor Store is expected to close by the end of the month due to a rent increase.
The closures reflect the challenges faced by small businesses in the area, as rising operating costs and decreased foot traffic make it difficult to remain open. Le Petit Four’s owner, Alexandre Morgenthaler, expressed gratitude to patrons in their announcement, inviting the community to join in celebrating the restaurant’s final days.
These closures mark a significant change for the Sunset Strip, known for its vibrant dining and entertainment scene. As the area faces economic challenges, the future of other small businesses remains uncertain.
